The Economic and Social Council of Greece (ESC) and the "Youth Action" co-organized a public consultation in Thessaloniki on the topic "The Housing Issue and Youth: Challenges and Prospects". The event took place on the afternoon of Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Thessaloniki City Hall.
Greetings at the opening of the event were delivered by Mr. Ioannis Paidas, President of the ESC of Greece, Mr. Triantafyllos Paidas, President of the "Youth Action", Mr. Konstantinos Gioulekas, Deputy Minister of Macedonia-Thrace, Mrs. Elena Rapti, Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family (via video), Mr. Paris Billias, Deputy Regional Governor of Infrastructure and Networks of Central Macedonia and Mr. Stelios Angeloudis, Mayor of Thessaloniki.
The keynote speaker was Mr. Oliver Röpke, President of the European Economic and Social Committee. In his speech, Mr. Röpke emphasized the need to engage directly with young people and involve them in shaping housing policies.
At the event, Mr. Michalis Alepis, Vice President of the ESC of Greece, presented the Council's Initiative Opinion on "Challenges and prospects for ensuring affordable and sustainable housing in Greece", while Mr. Giorgos Stamatiadis, Secretary General of the "Youth Action", presented the youth’s positions and proposals on the housing issue.
The housing issue and how it is addressed in Bulgaria was presented by Mrs. Zornitsa Roussinova, President of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria (via video).
The event concluded with a discussion with the audience.
