Participation in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference

Mr. Ioannis Paidas, President of the Economic and Social Council of Greece and the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions participated as a speaker in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva.

At the Conference, which lasted from 1 to 12 June 2026, representatives of governments, employers and workers from the 187 member States of the International Labour Organization (ILO) gathered at the International Labour Conference to discuss world of work issues, such as decent work in the platform economy, a transformative agenda for gender equality at work, and social dialogue and tripartite cooperation.

During his speech on 8 June 2026, Mr Paidas referred to the need for social dialogue to develop into a permanent culture of governance, capable of anticipating change, supporting just transitions and strengthening the resilience of democracy. Referring to effective social dialogue, he pointed out that it is based on political will, transparency, representativeness, technical competence and, above all, mutual trust.

Mr Paidas met with the President of the Economic, Social and Labour Council of Korea, Mr Kim Ji Hyung, the Director of the ILO, Mr Oliver Ropke, as well as heads of delegations from various countries participating in the Conference.

Mr Paidas was accompanied by Mr Apostolos Xyrafis, Secretary-General of the ESC and AICESIS, and Dr. Martha Theodorou, Head of International and Public Relations.
