Το 2018, ο αριθμός των ετών που αναμένεται ένα άτομο να συνεχίσει να ζει σε υγιή κατάσταση στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) εκτιμάται ότι είναι 64,2 έτη για τις γυναίκες και 63,7 έτη για τους άνδρες.
Το 2018 στην ΕΕ το προσδόκιμο ζωής των γυναικών (83,7 έτη) ήταν κατά μέσο όρο 5,5 έτη μεγαλύτερο από εκείνο των ανδρών (78,2). Τα έτη υγιούς ζωής αντιπροσωπεύουν περίπου το 77% και το 81% του συνολικού προσδόκιμου ζωής για γυναίκες και άνδρες αντίστοιχα.
