Το 2020, έτος έξαρσης της COVID-19, το μέσο εισόδημα απασχόλησης του πληθυσμού σε ηλικία εργασίας (18-64) στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωσης μειώθηκε κατά 7% σε σύγκριση με το 2019. Ωστόσο, το μέσο διαθέσιμο εισόδημα των νοικοκυριών, καθώς και το ποσοστό κινδύνου φτώχειας, παρέμειναν σταθερά, με διαφορετικές τάσεις σε κάθε χώρα.
