Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2022 89.590 αιτούντες άσυλο για πρώτη φορά (πολίτες εκτός Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης) υπέβαλαν αίτηση διεθνούς προστασίας στα κράτη μέλη της ΕΕ, 11.995 περισσότερα άτομα σε σχέση με τον προηγούμενο μήνα, σημειώνοντας αύξηση 15%.

Σε σύγκριση με τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2021 (62.820), σημειώθηκε αύξηση 43% στον συνολικό αριθμό των αιτημάτων.
