Σύμφωνα με την Eurostat, κατά μέσο όρο στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) οι δημόσιες και ιδιωτικές δαπάνες για προληπτική περίθαλψη αντιπροσώπευαν το 2,8% των συνολικών δαπανών για την υγεία το 2018, με τα υψηλότερα ποσοστά να καταγράφονται στην Ιταλία (4,4%) και στη Φιλανδία (4,0%).
Αντίθετα, το χαμηλότερο ποστοσό δαπανών προληπτικής περίθαλψης καταγράφηκε στη Σλοβακία (0,8% των συνολικών δαπανών για την υγεία), ακολουθούμενη από την Ελλάδα, την Κύπρο και τη Μάλτα (1,3%), και τη Ρουμανία (1,4%).
Σε σχέση με το μέγεθος του πληθυσμού, οι υψηλότερες δαπάνες προληπτικής περίθαλψης καταγράφηκαν στη Σουηδία (165 ευρώ ανά κάτοικο), στη Φιλανδία (152 ευρώ), στη Γερμανία (148 ευρώ) και στις Κάτω Χώρες (146 ευρώ) το 2018, και οι χαμηλότερες στη Ρουμανία και στη Σλοβακία (8 ευρώ ανά κάτοικο).
