Το 2021 υπήρχαν 3,0 εκατομμύρια άνεργοι νέοι (ηλικίας 15-24 ετών) στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) και το αντίστοιχο ποσοστό ανεργίας ήταν 16,6%.

Μεταξύ των μητροπολιτικών περιοχών της ΕΕ, η μεγαλύτερη διαφορά στο ποσοστό ανεργίας των νέων σε σύγκριση με τον αντίστοιχο εθνικό μέσο όρο καταγράφηκε στο Παλέρμο (+26,1 ποσοστιαίες μονάδες σε σύγκριση με τον εθνικό μέσο όρο για την Ιταλία). Τα ποσοστά ανεργίας των νέων ήταν επίσης περισσότερο από 20,0 ποσοστιαίες μονάδες υψηλότερα από τους αντίστοιχους εθνικούς μέσους όρους στις Messina (Ιταλία, +25,3 π.μ.), Les Abymes (Γαλλία, +24,4 π.μ.), Taranto (Ιταλία, +24,0 π.μ.), Las Palmas (Ισπανία, + 23,7 μ.μ.) και Napoli (Ιταλία, +22,4 μ.μ.).
